This article analyzes the physiological and psychological attributes of color temperature, discusses its relationship with brightness (illumination) and comfort, and combines LED street light testing to propose a color temperature range that is suitable for the current technical level of LED street lights.
Looking at LED street lamps from the perspective of lighting, there are four major problems: light efficiency, light distribution, light attenuation, and color temperature (light color). In recent years, the technology of LED street lamps has changed rapidly, and the optical performance has improved rapidly. According to the test results of the LED street lamps we have recently organized, 6 of the 27 LED street lamps have a total light efficiency of more than 70Lm/W, up to 81.5Lm/W; the light distribution level has been greatly improved, and the uniformity has been higher than that of high-pressure sodium lamps. There are advantages; the problem of light attenuation is obviously improved, and it is not inferior to other light sources.
In this context, the color temperature problem began to surface, rising to one of the main contradictions of LED street lights, and became the focus of recent industry attention. Indeed, street lights are the "dimmers" of the city at night, and their color temperature determines the "background color" of the night, which is closely related to the daily life of citizens. Therefore, the LED street lamp color temperature problem needs to be resolved before large-scale application, otherwise it may become a huge obstacle to promotion. At present, this situation has already appeared in some cities and will be fulfilled in more cities.
